Healthcare Minute Passed by NY Yearly Meeting

The Healthcare minute passed by Buffalo Meeting and adopted by the Farmington-Scipio region, has found its way to New York Yearly Meeting. Many meetings throughout the state have considered the minute and some meetings, such as Brooklyn MM, have adapted the minute and approved it as their own.

At NYYM Fall Sessions Brooklyn's version of the minute was brought before the body, and adopted with some alterations. The final Minute is below.

Buffalo Meeting Healthcare Minute

Buffalo Quaker Meeting has approved a minute addressing the issue of Healthcare in America.

Healthcare is a universal need, yet there are severe inequalities in the American system. We are lead to examine this issue from a spiritual perspective. Our goal in writing this minute is to outline certain principles that can guide us to a better Healthcare solution.

We encourage all Friends to consider whether they are led to work toward a Healthcare System that is more just, sustainable, and simplified.

Aging: Authenticity, Attention, Appreciation, Arc, and Prayer

The older we grow, the more we are called to witness and accompany those who suffer and also to rejoice wholeheartedly (and without jealousy or resentment) with those who have reason to rejoice. My spiritual life is richer for having been squeezed, like apples for cider, or grapes for wine, in this press of long life. In the process, the immature fruits I began with have become unrecognizable.
