The Healthcare minute passed by Buffalo Meeting and adopted by the Farmington-Scipio region, has found its way to New York Yearly Meeting. Many meetings throughout the state have considered the minute and some meetings, such as Brooklyn MM, have adapted the minute and approved it as their own.

At NYYM Fall Sessions Brooklyn's version of the minute was brought before the body, and adopted with some alterations. The final Minute is below.

We are deeply concerned that medical treatment currently provided in the United States is beyond the reach of many people.

Our belief is that every person should be treated compassionately. Each of us has a unique value, and all deserve to live to the best of our potential. Health care is a basic necessity of life that our society has an obligation to provide.

Every person should have access to quality medical treatment. We seek a just, sustainable, and simplified health care solution.

The Minute was approved and the Clerk of the Yearly Meeting was directed to (1) send a letter containing the Minute on Access to Health Care to all relevant elected Federal officials, (2) forward the Minute to the monthly meetings, inviting them to take action on the Minute as they discern to be appropriate, and (3) in consultation with the Communications Committee, send the Minute to media within the areas encompassed by New York Yearly Meeting.

Friends at Buffalo meeting Hope this minute will help define a basis by which we can pursue meaningful Healthcare Reform. We encourage all Friends to take action to achieve reform. We hope you will use this minute as a goal, and motivation for continued action.
